Washington State Library's Helen W. Clark collection, circa 1908.

This is a collection of a couple article manuscripts written by Helen W. Clark, a missionary at Neah Bay, WA. She wrote articles about Native Americans that she served and several were published in missionary magazines like the Home Mission Monthly. One of the articles is titled, "Chips From an Old Block". With the caption title of the article it states "Courtesy of Elsie Elder, Huntingdon, Quebec". It is unclear whether Ms. Elder typed the article for Miss Clark or if she donated the manuscript. Another manuscript is titled, "Indians and their Legends." The collection also contains approximately 10 black & white photographs that were gifts of Mrs. Mary L. Bourque from Pasadena, CA. Included in the collection are negatives and reprints of the original photographs. These photographs were from the Neah Bay, WA area in 1908. When Mrs. Bourque gave the photographs to WSL she included a letter with some of her childhood remembrances of her visit to Neah Bay.
